Three Technologies, On-Site
OPG, RVG & Intra Oral Scanner All Available in Hanamkonda.
Most dental clinics in Hanamkonda refer patients to external imaging centres for OPG X-rays and send impression materials to labs for crown or aligner work. We have all three advanced diagnostic systems in-house. Everything happens here, in the same appointment, with results reviewed immediately by Dr. Madhukar Reddy.
OPG (Orthopantomogram)
Full jaw panoramic X-ray
An OPG is a single panoramic X-ray image capturing the entire mouth: all teeth (upper and lower), both jaw bones, the jaw joints (TMJ), and surrounding bone structures in one wide image. The machine rotates around the patient's head, taking approximately 20 seconds to complete. Nothing to bite or swallow.
OPG is used for:
Assessment of wisdom teeth and impacted teeth
Pre-implant planning: bone level and volume assessment
Detection of jaw cysts, tumours, and bone pathology
Overview assessment of all teeth in a single image
Evaluation of jaw fractures
TMJ (jaw joint) assessment
Takes approximately 20 seconds to capture
RVG (Radiovisiography)
Digital periapical sensor X-ray
RVG is a digital intraoral X-ray system using a small electronic sensor placed inside the mouth. It produces highly detailed images of 2 to 4 teeth at a time, showing the full tooth from crown to root tip and the surrounding bone. Images appear on screen within 2 seconds. RVG delivers up to 90% less radiation than conventional film and produces sharper images that can be digitally enhanced.
RVG is used for:
Detecting cavities between teeth and under fillings
Assessing bone level around individual teeth (periodontal)
Checking the fit and margins of crowns and bridges
Confirming complete tooth removal during extraction
Monitoring healing after root canal, extraction, or implant surgery
Diagnosing periapical abscesses and cysts around root tips
Image appears on screen in under 2 seconds
Intra Oral Scanner
3D digital impression, no radiation
An Intra Oral Scanner is a small handheld wand that captures thousands of micro-images per second to build a precise, full-colour 3D digital model of your teeth, gums, and bite in real time. It completely replaces traditional putty impressions, which are uncomfortable and less accurate. There is no X-ray radiation involved. The scan takes only a few minutes and the result appears on screen immediately.
Intra Oral Scanner is used for:
Crown and bridge fabrication: highly accurate digital impressions
Clear aligner treatment: precise 3D tooth models for aligner fabrication
Dental implant planning and implant crown design
Veneers and smile design: digital preview before any tooth preparation
Orthodontic assessment: 3D tooth position and spacing analysis
Monitoring tooth wear, gum recession, or changes over time
Replacing uncomfortable putty impressions for all restorative work
3D model ready in 3 to 5 minutes, zero radiation
Why Digital Matters
How Digital Technology Makes Your Dental Care Better
Digital radiology and scanning are not just technology upgrades. They change the quality of diagnosis and the speed of treatment planning in ways that directly benefit every patient.
Up to 90% Less Radiation
Digital sensors require a fraction of the X-ray exposure that conventional film requires. This is particularly important for children, pregnant patients, and anyone needing frequent monitoring. The dose from a digital dental X-ray is now comparable to a few hours of background radiation from normal daily life.
Instant Results in Same Appointment
RVG images appear in under 2 seconds. OPG images in under a minute. Intra Oral Scanner models in 3 to 5 minutes. Dr. Reddy reviews everything with you immediately, explains his findings in plain language, and discusses treatment options without you needing to return for results.
Superior Image Quality
Digital images are sharper, higher in contrast, and more detailed than conventional film. They can be zoomed, brightened, and contrast-adjusted to reveal detail that conventional X-rays miss. Early-stage cavities, hairline cracks, and subtle bone changes that are invisible on film become clearly visible.
No Referrals, No Waiting
OPG X-rays and intraoral scanning are unavailable at most dental clinics in Hanamkonda. Patients are typically referred elsewhere, adding cost, delay, and inconvenience. We have all three systems in-house. Your scan is taken, reviewed, and built into your treatment plan on the same day.
No More Uncomfortable Impressions
Traditional dental impressions involve filling your mouth with putty and holding it in place for several minutes. The Intra Oral Scanner replaces this entirely. A quick, comfortable scan produces a more accurate 3D model than any physical impression, with no gagging, no mess, and no discomfort.
Digital Storage and Sharing
X-rays and scan data are stored securely in your digital patient record. Previous images can be retrieved instantly for comparison, allowing us to monitor changes in bone levels, cavities, or tooth position over time. Images can be shared digitally with specialists if needed.
When You Need a Scan
Situations Where Imaging Is Essential
X-rays and scans reveal what cannot be seen with the naked eye. In dentistry, what cannot be seen is often what matters most.
Before dental implant surgery
Bone volume, bone density, and proximity to the sinus or nerves must be precisely assessed. Both OPG X-ray and Intra Oral Scanner are used at this stage.
Wisdom tooth assessment
The position, angulation, and root development of wisdom teeth and their relationship to the inferior alveolar nerve can only be determined from an OPG.
Root canal treatment
RVG is used before, during, and after RCT to measure canal lengths, assess root morphology, confirm complete cleaning, and verify the final result.
Crown and bridge fabrication
The Intra Oral Scanner replaces traditional impressions entirely, producing a more accurate digital model for the laboratory with no discomfort.
Clear aligner treatment
A full 3D scan using the Intra Oral Scanner creates the precise tooth model from which custom aligner trays are fabricated.
Detecting hidden decay
Cavities between teeth and below old fillings are invisible on clinical examination. Only an RVG reveals them before they become serious.
Periodontal gum assessment
Bone levels around each tooth are measured on RVG images to assess the severity of gum disease and monitor the response to treatment over time.
Orthodontic planning
Root lengths, tooth positions, jaw relationships, and the presence of un-erupted teeth are confirmed on OPG before orthodontic treatment begins.
Dental X-Rays Are Very Safe
The radiation dose from a single digital dental X-ray is extremely small, less than a single chest X-ray and far less than a day of normal background radiation. We follow the ALARA principle (As Low As Reasonably Achievable). X-rays are only taken when clinically justified, never routinely without reason. Lead aprons are always offered to pregnant patients and children. The Intra Oral Scanner is completely radiation-free and can be used as an alternative in many situations.

What patients in Hanamkonda and Warangal ask about dental X-rays and scanning.
Are dental X-rays safe?
Yes. Digital dental X-rays are very safe. The radiation dose is extremely small, less than a single chest X-ray and far less than a day of normal background radiation. We follow the ALARA principle and only take X-rays when there is a specific clinical reason. Lead aprons are available for all patients and always offered to pregnant patients and children.
What is the difference between OPG, RVG, and an Intra Oral Scanner?
An OPG is a panoramic X-ray capturing the entire mouth in one wide image. An RVG is a detailed close-up digital X-ray of 2 to 4 teeth. An Intra Oral Scanner uses a handheld wand to create a precise 3D digital model of your teeth and gums with no X-ray radiation at all. All three are available in-house at our Hanamkonda clinic.
Is OPG available at your Hanamkonda clinic?
Yes. We have an in-house OPG machine at Madhukar Reddy Super Speciality Dental Hospital. Most dental clinics in Hanamkonda refer patients to external imaging centres for OPG scans. We perform them here, in the same appointment, with results reviewed immediately by Dr. Madhukar Reddy. No referral, no waiting, no extra inconvenience.
What is an Intra Oral Scanner and is it better than impressions?
An Intra Oral Scanner creates a highly accurate 3D digital model of your teeth and bite without any physical impression material. It is faster, more comfortable, and more accurate than traditional putty impressions. The scan takes only a few minutes and the result is available immediately. It is used for crown and bridge planning, aligner fabrication, implant planning, and veneer design at our Hanamkonda clinic.
Can pregnant women have dental X-rays?
Dental X-rays during pregnancy are generally avoided as a precaution, particularly in the first trimester, unless there is an urgent clinical need. When clinically essential, a lead apron is always used. Please inform us if you are pregnant or think you may be. Our Intra Oral Scanner is completely radiation-free and can often be used instead in many clinical situations.
Will I get a copy of my X-rays?
Your X-rays and scan data are stored securely in your digital patient record at our clinic. If you need a copy for a referral or second opinion, we can provide the images digitally. Dr. Reddy reviews every X-ray with you at your appointment and explains the findings in plain language so you fully understand what was found and what needs to be done.
